Kitesurfing at Bloubergstrand's Big Bay

Bloubergstrand is situated on the West Coast of South Africa, in the Western Cape.

From the beach, just 60 metres from Nicks Seaside Rest you can enjoy the world famous view of Table Mountain.

From Bloubergstrand it is only a 20 minutes drive to the city centre of Cape Town and the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront.

We're also located just 25 minutes from Cape Town International Airport and within reasonable distance to most of the important tourist attractions.

Within walking distance:
To the beach for swimming, kitesurfing, windsurfing (sail boarding), surfing and other water sports. Jogging and walking along a very safe beach front enjoying the refreshing sea air and breathtaking sunsets; from July to October whales can be seen in the Bay.

To good local restaurants, the local tennis courts and the library. Spectacular wild spring flowers can be seen in the area during August and September.

Only 5 to 10 minutes by car:
Shopping malls, major banks, hospitals, cinemas, video outlets, local tourism office, golf courses, gymnasium with squash and indoor pool facilities, Rietvlei protected wetlands and the Southern African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds (SANCCOB)

Only 15 to 20 minutes by car:
Durbanville Wine Route, West Coast Ostrich Farm, Ratanga Junction amusement park and adjacent Canal Walk shopping mall, the largest on the African continent.

Only 20 to 25 minutes:
Cape Town International Airport, the city centre, popular Victoria & Alfred Waterfront and Two Oceans Aquarium, the new Cape Town International Conference Centre and the Table Mountain cable car station.

Only 30 to 40 minutes:
Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens, and the Constantia and Stellenbosch Wine Routes.

45 minutes:
The Boulders African Penguin natural conservation area at Simonstown.
The Buffelsfontein Game & Nature Reserve on the West Coast.

About one hour:
Cape of Good Hope National Park at Cape Point where the Indian and Atlantic Oceans meet. West Coast National Park which hosts 250 bird species and where spectacular wild spring flowers bloom in August and September.


Public Transport

A frequent express bus service known as MyCiTi (Cape Town Integrated Rapid Transit system), goes to Bloubergstrand, Big Bay, Table View, Melkbosstrand, Milnerton, Century City, the V&A Waterfront, Cape Town city centre, the Airport (via Cape Town city centre), Camps Bay, Hout Bay, and beyond.
